Naked, Cold and Counting (revised)
You’re gone now but I still feel you with me. I feel you the way I do the things I was born with.
You; burning hot and caged beneath my aging skin – like the lingering warmth that swells and follows a long day beneath a summer’s sun.
But now, more so than ever, Love- I feel you in what I no longer feel.
Absence … radiating presence
You know more than anyone, that I’ve...

Every morning in Africa, a Gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning a Lion wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the slowest Gazelle or it will starve to death.
It doesn’t matter whether you are a Lion or a Gazelle…
when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.
~ Thanks Marc

“The mother’s prayer for its daughter”
First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches.
May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the the Beauty.
When the Crystal Meth is offered,
May she remember the parents who cut her...

Remember....
Despite my always growing and persistent human urges, I’m trying to remind myself that
INCREASED POSSESSIONS = INCREASED COMPLEXITY
Where do I fit in?
Got invited last minute to a lunch with Steve Forbes and the CEO of Northwest Mutual. Excited but totally out of my element, to quote The Big Lebowski.
I’m certainly not white enough, rich enough or conservative enough to be here, but gracious none the less!
I was thinking....
You are never really there. If you think you are there, then you are actually here and if you are here then you aren’t there.

Thanks to Sara from Tech Crunch for this article and to Peter Thiel for saying all of this goodness!
Fair warning: This article will piss off a lot of you.
I can say that with confidence because it’s about Peter Thiel. And Thiel – the PayPal co-founder, hedge fund manager and venture capitalist – not only has a special talent for making money, he has a special talent for making people furious.

Got this email from my Dad the other night and thought it was pretty interesting.
‘Let me explain the problem science has with religion.’The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand. ‘You’re a Christian, aren’t you, son?’ ‘Yes sir, ‘the student says. ‘So you believe in...

The Snowmen are Melting!
Instead of simply telling me he farted, my son Parker, dressed in his snowman pajamas, likes to passionately declare,
“Oh no, the snowmen are melting!” and then laugh. What can I say? The boy’s got a magical way with words and apparently some pretty hot rug frogs.

A Modest Proposal
I mean really? If you are at Starbucks and it takes you more than 15-30 seconds to make the necessary adjustments and additions to your drink at the condiment bar (cream, milk, sugar etc..), chances are you don’t really like that drink you ordered that much. As a matter of fact, you are probably just making yourself a beverage that they already make. Look into it.

The Jets pull a TUMBLR and go missing in action on December 6th. I owe you one Sexy Rexy.
Thanks to my knight in shining armor, Tom Brady, and his offensive army of undersized white men, I slept soundly last night.
Braylon Edwards probably got more action that night in jail than he did last evening at Gillette Stadium :)
6.) The Pillow Returns (letters to my unborn son...
“The pillow has slowly crept bank inside my head and wrapped itself around my mind.
This bowl of a brain has turned into a colander and allowed most, if not all, my thoughts to leak out, leaving behind just the thick, fat as earthworm thoughts to clog up my head.
You are the only thing that rises to the top. You are salt in a pool of rocks.

“Before news of your conception voyaged across the Atlantic, I was feeling thin. Not physically thin. I wasn’t actually starving; Sally Struthers infomercial - bloated belly - fly covered thin but my sole was. I imagine my sole looking exhausted and run down. I picture it looking like the mother of a terminally ill child or the wife of a dying husband. This woman that is my sole...
2.) Spaceship Cambridge (letters to my unborn son...
“It snowed yesterday. Big golf ball flakes floating all about, only the snow in Cambridge, England isn’t frozen. The snow there floats a little longer, as if it were filled with helium. The flakes look like astronauts vacationing in their zero gravity spaceship. Another difference between the snow here and the snow back home is I am violently allergic to the snow here. Punched...

So in keeping with my old journal theme I thought I would post a series of notes I had written my son the week I found out my wife was pregnant. I found these pretty entertaining to skim through, especially now that I am a father almost twice over and 3 years removed. O’ how naive I was! :

Entries From an Old Journal I Just Re-discovered!
So I just found an old journal which is always exciting. It’s really fun to read something you’ve jotted down once you are far enough removed from the initial conception that it feels like you’re reading someone else’s writing. I always wished I could re-create this feeling for the music I’ve made. Maybe a few more years down the road I’ll feel this for...
